Most of the work here happens behind a gate.
El Dorado Hills is not a venue town in the way Roseville or Folsom are. A large share of what gets celebrated here happens at a private club or at a private residence, which changes the job in practical ways. There is often no loading dock, no service lift and no back-of-house freezer — a piece has to come up a driveway, through a gate and into a room or onto a terrace in one move, and it has to look finished from the moment it is set down because there is nowhere to hide while it is adjusted. It also changes what people want. Private hosts tend to ask for something specific to them rather than something impressive in general: a monogram, a date, a shape that means something to the twelve people who will recognise it. Those are the pieces we most enjoy carving, and they are the ones that photograph as though they were always meant to be in that room.
